In short
- One subscription, every website you visit. The extension is a personal tool. It is billed separately from any Readabler website plan, and buying one does not include the other.
- Your first day is free. Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged. After that it renews until you cancel, and you can cancel in one click.
- The adjustments are cosmetic and local. They change how a page looks in your browser. They do not change anyone else's website, and they cannot make a website legally compliant.
- The AI features can be wrong. Summaries, answers and transcripts are generated by AI models — check anything that matters before you rely on it.
1The agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Readabler browser extension, this website, and the parts of your Readabler account that serve the extension (together, the "Service"). By installing the extension, subscribing to it, or using it, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it, and "you" means that organisation.
2Who we are
The Service is provided by PE Merkulov ("Readabler", "we", "us"). You can reach us at any time at [email protected] — for support, billing questions, or anything in these Terms.
3Who may use it
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy a subscription. Younger users may use the Service through a subscription held by a parent, guardian or institution that accepts these Terms on their behalf.
4Your account
The extension works with a Readabler account. You agree to give accurate information when you register, to keep it current, and to keep your credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and a subscription is for one person's use — not for sharing between people. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to it.
5What the extension is
Readabler for Edge is a personal accessibility toolbar. It applies your chosen adjustments — text size and spacing, fonts, colour and contrast, orientation aids, distraction controls and the accessibility profiles — to pages as you view them, and offers AI features that can summarise a page, answer questions about it, read it aloud and listen to you.
Two things it is not. It is not a website compliance tool: the adjustments happen in your own browser and change nothing for anyone else, so they cannot make a website conform to WCAG, the ADA, the EAA or any other standard — that is what the Readabler widget for website owners is for. And it is not a medical device or an assistive technology substitute: it is a convenience tool, not a replacement for a screen reader, professional advice or care.
6Subscription and trial
The extension requires an active browser extension subscription on your Readabler account. This is a separate product from a Readabler website plan: neither includes the other, and each is billed on its own.
New subscriptions begin with a one-day free trial, during which every feature is unlocked. If you cancel before the trial ends you are not charged. If you do not cancel, the first payment is taken when the trial ends and the subscription begins.
7Billing, renewal and price changes
Subscriptions are sold monthly or annually at the prices shown on the pricing section of this site at the time you subscribe. Payment is taken by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record and issues your invoice; Paddle's own terms apply to the transaction. Prices are exclusive of taxes unless stated, and applicable local taxes may be added at checkout.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you before the change takes effect, and you may cancel if you do not want to continue.
If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend the subscription until it succeeds.
8Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time from the extension page of your Readabler account, in one click, without giving a reason. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Except where the law gives you a right to a refund, payments already made are not refundable, and we do not refund part of a period after cancellation. Nothing here affects statutory rights you may have as a consumer — including, in the EU and the UK, the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. If something has gone wrong with a payment, write to [email protected] and we will look at it.
9When a subscription ends
The extension checks your subscription with your Readabler account. When there is no active subscription, or you are signed out, the panel locks and stops applying adjustments. If your account cannot be reached at all — your connection is down, or our service is unavailable — the last confirmed subscription keeps working for a short grace period, so that a network problem does not take away the tools you rely on to read.
Your settings stay on your device. If you subscribe again, they are still there.
10Acceptable use
Use the Service lawfully, and do not:
- share, resell, sublicense or redistribute your subscription or the extension;
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the extension, or try to defeat the subscription check, except to the extent the law expressly allows;
- use the Service to break into, disrupt, overload or probe our systems or anyone else's;
- use automated means to generate AI requests beyond ordinary personal use, or to resell the AI features as a service of your own;
- submit content to the AI features that you have no right to submit, or that is unlawful; or
- use the Service to infringe anyone's rights or to break the law where you are.
Plan allowances for the AI features are stated on the pricing page and in the panel's usage meter. We may apply reasonable technical limits to keep the Service working for everybody.
11The AI features
The summary, chat, read-aloud and voice features are powered by AI models, our own and third parties'. AI output can be incomplete, outdated or simply wrong, even when it sounds confident. It is not professional advice of any kind — medical, legal, financial or otherwise — and you should check anything important against the source before acting on it.
You keep whatever rights you have in the content you send to an AI feature, and you grant us only the permission we need to process that request and return the result to you. What we do with it, and who processes it, is set out in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the right to send us the content you send.
12Sites you visit
The extension changes how third-party websites appear in your browser. We do not control those websites, we are not responsible for their content, and adjusting a page does not put us in any relationship with its owner. Their own terms continue to apply to your use of them.
Websites vary enormously. Some adjustments will not fit every layout, and a heavily customised or unusual site may render imperfectly with adjustments applied. Turning the adjustments off restores the page. If a site does not work properly with Readabler, tell us at [email protected] — that is how these things get fixed.
13Ownership and licence
The Service, including the extension, its adjustment engine, its design, its content and the Readabler name and logo, belongs to PE Merkulov or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. While your subscription is active we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the extension for your own accessibility needs. No other rights are granted.
The extension includes third-party components, such as open-source fonts, used under their own licences.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without owing you anything for them.
14Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available and improving, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change or remove features, and we may need to interrupt the Service for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control. If we discontinue a material part of the Service, we will give reasonable notice, and where you have paid for a period you cannot use as a result, we will refund the unused part of it.
The extension is distributed through Microsoft Edge Add-ons, and its availability also depends on that store and on your browser.
15Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every adjustment will work on every website, or that AI output will be accurate. If you are a consumer, this section does not limit rights the law gives you that cannot be limited.
16Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PE Merkulov will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service — including your use of, or inability to use, it, any reliance on AI output, or the behaviour of any third-party website.
Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service in any 12-month period will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in that period.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
17Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription and removing the extension. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, if your use puts the Service or others at risk, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we terminate your access without cause, we will refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.
18Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what the extension does with your data — what stays on your device, what reaches your account, and what happens when you use the AI features. Our use of cookies and similar storage is described in the Cookies notice. Both form part of your agreement with us.
19Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Service develops or the law changes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email or in the extension before it takes effect; continuing to use the Service afterwards means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, you may cancel.
20Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be dealt with by the competent courts of Ukraine. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you that right. Before going to court, please write to us — most things are settled faster over email.
